Flower essences are truly nature’s little wonders.  I discovered them quite early in life.  Holly was introduced to Bach’s Rescue Remedy shortly after being born.

For those of you unfamiliar with flower essences they have been used by many cultures long before the modern pioneer Bach (1886-1936) reintroduced them.  Ian White a fifth generation herbalist, naturopath, homeopath and metaphysician produced his first Australian Bush Flower Essence over thirty years ago.  Today his remedies are used by natural medicine healers, doctors, used in hospitals and sold in pharmacies and health food stores.  Since discovering Aussie Bush Flowers I have been an avid user and therapist.

Australian Bush Flower Essences resolve a vast range of negative emotions.  They help bring about harmony and the power to make positive change.  They actually work similarly to meditation in that they help us replace our unwanted and limiting beliefs and emotions with positive and nourishing ones.

They are completely safe for children and they work wonderfully well on animals.  All our animals have happily lapped up flower essences.  Interestingly children and animals have less built up negative resistance and scepticism than adults and so they work extremely quickly for them.

Combining meditation and the appropriate flower essence will clearly produce a faster and more powerful result.  As we’ve discussed in previous posts, stress is one of the main reasons people turn to meditation and conversely it is also one of the main reasons people give up.  Stressed people find it hard to settle down, there’s always something else that needs be done.  When we stand to benefit the most from meditation is when we find it the hardest.

Help is at hand!  Among the Australian Bush Flower range is an essence made from the flower called Black Eyed Susan (photo taken from Australian Bush flower Essence site). This fabulous remedy is for the impatient, easily irritated, ‘too much to do’ type of person who has trouble slowing down.  It is the stress remedy and brings balance, calmness and a better ability to cope with life’s pressures.

Taking this remedy will also help you overcome the obstacles and resistance to meditation that stress brings. It’s suggested that you use the essence for a minimum of two weeks whenever stress starts interfering with your life. Seven drops under the tongue first thing in the morning and before nodding off at night are the best times to take flower essences.

Working on stress is vitally important as you no doubt know. A combination of meditation and or mindfulness, body awareness and flower essences will help bridge the gap stress has placed between you and your happiness and wellbeing.

Another wonderful way to de-stress and unwind after a rough day is to treat yourself to a bath with a few drops of essential oil of lavender, dim the lights and light a few candles.  Do some deep breathing, try and clear your mind, stop the inner dialogue and let your senses do the talking.  Enjoy every aspect of the experience.    This is so relaxing, I love it.  Hope you do too.
