Spring is here in Australia and it’s time to shed that dry winter skin. The winter chill naturally dries out our skin, causing it to become dehydrated and dull. For those of you who are conscious of what you put onto your bodies, I have three beautiful and completely natural spa treatment recipes to share with you that will help you achieve beautiful luminous skin without all the harsh chemicals.

Nourishing Nut Body Scrub

Suitable for all skin types, and dry skin in particular due to the moisturising effects of the nut oils in the recipe.

Ingredients:

100g ground nuts (almonds, walnuts or linseeds)

50g oatmeal

50g flour

1 tbsp water (add more if required to attain the desired consistency)

Method:

  1. Combine all ingredients in a blender until a coarse mixture is achieved.
  2. Pour into a glass jar (with a screw top to protect the mixture). This recipe can be kept in a freezer.
  3. When you wish to utilize the mixture, use a tablespoon to remove the mixture from the glass jar.
  4. Add water to the mixture to make it more like a paste
  5. Rub in a gentle circular motion over your body to exfoliate dead skin cells from your body for a smoother complexion.
  6. Remove with warm water (a shower is most convenient)

Sugar skin-softening Body Scrub

Suitable for most skin types to exfoliate and soften your skin.

Ingredients:

2 tsp aloe vera gel

250g cane sugar

200mls avocado oil (or vegetable glycerine)

3 drops of Lavender Essential Oil

2 drops of Orange Essential Oil

Method:

  1. Combine all ingredients in a bowl
  2. Use your hand to scoop up some of the mixture and rub in a gentle circular motion over your body to exfoliate dead skin cells from your body for a smoother complexion.
  3. Leave it on your skin for around 5 minutes before rinsing.
  4. Remove with warm water (a shower is most convenient)

Sensitive Skin Body Scrub

Suitable for normal to sensitive skins as the grains are soft resulting in a reduction in the likelihood of you having a sensitive reaction. This recipe is also ideal if you wish to exfoliate more than once a week.

 Ingredients:

2 tbs oatmeal

2 tbs cornmeal

2 tbs wheatgerm

1 tbs water

Method:

Mix all the ingredients together

Store in an airtight container

  1. When you wish to utilize the mixture, use a tablespoon to remove the mixture from the glass jar.
  2. Add water to the mixture to make it more like a paste
  3. Rub in a gentle circular motion over your body to exfoliate dead skin cells from your body for a smoother complexion.
  4. Remove with warm water (a shower is most convenient)
